Bus - Arriving by bus

For the purposes of regulating the traffic towards the historic city centre, tour coaches can access the territory of the Municipality of Venice only if they have a permit – a pass - issued by  AVM S.p.A.

The coaches are divided in two categories: Vehicles fitted with more than 16 seats plus the driver’s seat and minibuses certified to carry more than 8 passengers, driver excluded, and up to a maximum of 16 passengers plus the driver’s seat, requiring drivers with a D type PSV driving licence.

The pass has to be purchased at the check-ins.

The price of the pass varies according to the final destination of the coaches, to the type of coach, whether it is Euro 4 or non Euro 4, to the tourist season, high and low season and Carnival. There are reduced fees for school trips.

Coaches that transport tourists who are staying at tourist accommodation structures within the Municipality of Venice benefit from reduced fees and are issued with the so-called hotel pass.

Vehicles that access the ZTL BUS restricted traffic area that do not have the pass must follow the route indicated by the road signs directing to the check-in points. Even coaches that are included in the exempted categories must be equipped with the specific exempted service pass.

In the ZTL BUS restricted traffic area parking is allowed only in the authorised loading and unloading areas, in the specific parking areas and in the private parking areas that can anyway be reached by exhibiting the pass.
