Accessible Venice

Despite the presence in Venice of over 400 bridges that connect about one hundred islands to one another, even visitors affected by motor or sensorial disabilities can get around this beautiful city without encountering any barriers, thanks to the navigation public transport service - that allows them to reach the most striking and monumental areas of the historic city centre – to the practical instructions placed at the disposal of visitors concerning the level of accessibility of the different parts of the city, and also to actions aimed at eliminating architectural barriers.

The Municipality of Venice has been working for many years to make Venice an accessible city for everyone with the “Venice for everyone” service, that aims at allowing the biggest possible number of people to move around and experience Venice to the maximum extent, a service aimed not only at persons with motor disabilities but also for the elderly, for citizens that go shopping, for mothers with prams and for tourists carrying luggage.
What’s more, thanks to the lack of road traffic, Venice is a particularly “friendly” and relaxing city.
