Itineraries without barriers
Thanks to the navigation public transport service and to the work carried out by the municipal administration during the years, nearly 70% of the surface area of the historic city centre is now accessible to persons with motor disabilities. The problem may arise once you arrive at destination, when you have to understand which route to take to avoid a bridge, which monuments to visit and what type of obstacles you may encounter.
The itineraries without barriers are intended as suggestions for visiting the city of Venice, despite the fact that the city’s particular characteristics cause many obstacles. Some of them have been pointed out by disabled persons residing in the city and by their family members, who want to make this information, acquired in their everyday lives, available to everyone.
