Palazzo Grimani

Palazzo Grimani - Bosch Paradiso
Short description:
A historic patrician residence

Palazzo Grimani represents an especially important new site in the Venice museum scene, holding local, national and international relevance because of its previous use as a historic patrician residence, for the originality of its architecture and the intricacy and value of its decorations. Antonio Grimani, at the beginning of the XIV century, gives his children the house "da stazio": the compound will be completed thanks to his nephew Giovanni, patriarch of Aquileia, and his brother Vettore, San Marco’s prosecutor. The heirs themselves are likely to have taken part into the project and into the decoration of the palace. Paintings by Titian, Veronese, Bassano, Tintoretto and Hieronymus Bosch.
