Papadopoli Gardens

Papadopoli Gardens
Breve descrizione:
The first gardens you come upon after arriving in Piazzale Roma

These are the first gardens you come upon after arriving in Piazzale Roma; they are bounded by Piazzale Roma, the Fondamenta della Croce and the Monastery and Condulmer. Planted in 1834, they were lush with rare species of trees but a century later, the gardens had to be whittled away and sacrificed to make room for the construction of the Ponte della Libertà in 1933 to meet urban, tourist and commercial needs. Split into one larger section and two smaller areas, the larger section is fenced and blanketed with trees, cypress, cedars, nettle trees, evergreen oaks, pagoda trees, elms, Japanese pittosporum, spindle trees, oleander and laurel. Also equipped with children's playgrounds.
