San Marcuola Church

San Marcuola Church
Short description:
A church of 18th century origin, home of an important Last Supper painted by J. Tintoretto.

Originally dedicated to the names of SS. Ermagora e Fortunato in time immemorial, the church was rebuilt between 1728 and 1736 by Antonio Gaspari and Giorgio Massari. The façade, located on the right side, was left unfinished after the arrangement of the base and the entrance door. Major paintings are conserved inside, among which the Last Supper executed by Tintoretto. The church is designed in a single nave on a square layout and is lined with embedded columns and composite pilaster strips, closing off the archways of twin chapels at the corners.
