Arriving by sea, you reach the city through three harbour mouths: Lido, Malamocco and Chioggia.
The Lido harbour mouth is the gateway for passenger ships: cruise ships, ferries, fast ships and yachts sail along the Giudecca Canal to reach the sea terminal.
This route offers a first enchanting view of the city from Saint Mark’s Basin: Saint Mark’s Square, Punta della Dogana, the island of San Giorgio and the Giudecca Canal.
The Malamocco harbour mouth is used by freight shipping, both commercial and industrial, while the Chioggia harbour mouth is also a passenger terminal for the shipping lines that go to Croatia and Split, that don't only carry goods but also people and private cars.
From the sea terminal you can easily reach the historic city centre:
by land:
by taxi, taking about 2 minutes;
with the ACTV no. 6/ bus line, the stop is at the Tronchetto Ramp, in the immediate vicinity of the Terminal.
with the People Mover, a recently built electric train that allows you to arrive in Piazzale Roma in only three minutes at the cost of 1 Euro. For further information you can contact the call centre of the ASM company at 041 2727211.
On Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, when there are ships engaged in passenger embarking and disembarking operations, a free shuttle bus service is available to and from the Marittima Terminal. It runs every 15-20minutes. You must remember that the service operates at the request of the cruise line.
by water:
with the ACTV means of public transport from the San Basilio landing jetty or with the Alilaguna motorboats that provide a shuttle service between the sea terminal and Saint Mark’s Square. By water taxi, a type of motorboat you can recognise by the license number printed on a yellow band at the height of the side windows.

LEFT LUGGAGE AND LOST & FOUND LUGGAGE SERVICE
In the arrivals area of the terminal there is a left luggage service available for passengers. The left luggage facilities are on the ground floor of terminals 103, 107, 117 and of Terminal Isonzo and are open on days when passenger embarking and disembarking operations are scheduled. The luggage handling company of the Port of Venice, upon request, offers luggage transport services to Venice Santa Lucia railway station and to the hotels in Venice.
